keep an eye out

ok folks.  so i’m not sure how many people actually click through my links over on the right side of the page.  if you never have, you really should.  because really, those are the interesting sites, not mine.

one particular site that i’d like you to keep an eye on is my very talented husband’s.  Wilsie Photography hasn’t changed much since Ross started it to keep all his wedding pictures sorted and available to clients for viewing and purchasing.  But it’s about to change.  In fact, it’s already started to.

This past fall, Ross and I worked with a fabulous graphic designer from Asheville, NC who patiently worked with us to craft a real live logo for ross’s near-legit photography business.  You’ll get a preview of it on the site right now.  But that’s not all.

Soon the whole website will start to change as we work with a childhood friend of mine turned web designer to give Wilsie Photography a whole new (and quite fashionable) wardrobe.  I can’t wait!

update:  wilsie photography used to be listed on the side as “ross’s amazing pictures” – i know, confusing.  so now, you can find it, second from the bottom, as wilsie photography.  so NOT confusing, right?  great!

the life of a garden – 2009

honestly, where has the summer gone?  the most startling realization that fall was in fact approaching was on my way to work two weeks ago.  my usual 60 mph speed (let’s be honest, if i can break 45 on the two-lane route of death, it’s a happy day) was disrupted – by the flashing school zone lights.  SCHOOL is starting already!  it’s ludicrous.

what’s also ludicrous is just how many pictures i’ve taken of the garden this year.  but it’s a good thing too  – because when i’m about to make the same mistake as this year by growing tomatoes nowhere near the vicinity of a trellis and am forced to prop them up in various embarrassing degrees of string and stake concoctions, i’ll have a picture to remind me.

so i took some iniative for the first time in ages and corralled them all into one place – well, at least i’m in the process of coralling them – and anyone with a large bit of time on their hands can hop on over here and see the whole process from barren chunk of weedy lawn, to “hey! i’ve grown something you can eat!”

you know that bag of cranberries i had hanging around?  well i was procrastinating on using them because i just couldn’t decide what the perfect recipe would be.  but there’s no cure for procrastination like the spoiling of food – because the cranberries were starting to go south and i would’ve lost them all together if i didn’t find a recipe fast.

so i chose this one.

if you happened to click on it, you would notice that neither the title nor the ingredients list actually contained the word cranberries.  but that’s OK – because i put some in.  it’s one of those things i love to do and one of those things ross hates that i do – not that he doesn’t enjoy the finished product, of course – he just doesn’t like when i don’t follow the rules.  but really, with this recipe i followed all the rules but one:  the type of fruit i put in.  i’m sure figs are great and awesome, but i’ve never had one and i didn’t have a bag of figs in my fridge, i had a bag of cranberries.  and a few stray apples too.  so bada bing, bada boom, a recipe was born.
