These are some of the first tomatoes of the season – and they’re also the first tomatoes I’ve ever grown.  These aren’t the big beefsteak variety, but an heirloom variety that grows to about the size of a tennis ball.  We’re also growing some yellow roma tomatoes, but those aren’t quite ripe enough to pick.

So far we’ve sliced a few into our salads at dinner and I made a really quick version of pico de gallo by adding some corn, black beans, olive oil, pepper, and a handful of torn cilantro.  There’s nothing quite like going into your backyard and grocery shopping for dinner.  And next year’s garden will only be better.
