looks like i’ve fallen off the wagon. i was doing so well, and then the chaos that is spring hit.
before we were so rudely interrupted, i was talking about all the work that got done around here after the Big Event kids came.
so finally – i have pictures to share. just looking back at these, i’ve noticed how many more things have sprouted up in just four weeks. thankfully even though i’ve been absent in the blogging world, i’ve still been keeping track of all the changes going on around here. Mainly in our garden. More on that later.
Without further ado, here’s what we got 5 college kids to do for no payment other than a big lunch and the satisfaction of a job well done. score.
remember the massive mulch pile? this is what is was reduced to. and that’s after going back for more. twice.
this is where most of it ended up. this year was our third spring at our house (we moved in in spring) and it was the first time we were able to mulch it. it’s big.
this is where a little more if it went. the mulch, and not our badly in need of a power wash garage is the focus of this picture.
finally, the rest went up front.
gratuitous flower shot
we also had the boys fill up the dogs’ contributions to the landscape (lots and lots of holes. grr.) with fill dirt. then we seeded it with grass seed and covered it with straw. grow!
and welcome to our garden: a trailer full of free rough grade mulch from the dump filled up extra space perfectly.
this should do the trick at providing nice pathways for our garden.
a closeup. we tried to lay it as thickly as we could. one more load of this stuff might have been even better. but beggars can’t be choosers and there’s always next year.
coming up shortly are pics of our progress over the past month and whatever randomness comes to me.
